Summer is drawing to a close all too quickly as usual, soon it will be back to school and leaf raking time but I'm confident we still have several weeks of good summer weather ahead.
Another sign of the time is our annual dues notice which you'll find enclosed in this letter. Please remit your payment as soon as possible so we can be sure to have enough in the treasury to keep the snow plows busy cleaning our streets when the winter weather arrives.
Ed Bridge has been working to update and upgrade our record keeping and
communication system by computerizing our resident roster and financial records.
A current treasurers report and account balances can now be had at a moments
notice and all our records are backed up on a disc each week.
Speaking of streets, you may remember the board sent out ballots in the spring seeking to ascertain whether there was enough support for a repaving project to justify going forward with a long, arduous process of securing financing through the township. We did receive some ballots back but not enough to consider it a positive outcome. We naturally could not count the majority number of ballots not received as "yes" votes so without a 51% majority the measure was defeated. The board will not be considering repaving for the foreseeable future. We have, however, engaged McIntyre Asphalt paving to continue patching potholes and they have completed that work for this year.
The St. Clair County drain commissioner, Bob Wiley, is currently working on a new plan for the Lakeland drain district and should have it ready for presentation to the board soon. The previous plan from Mr. Fuller was scrapped and we've gone"back to the drawing board" in an effort to resolve our drainage issues.
We hope you all have a safe, mild and short winter and a great 2012.
Sincerly,
Charlie Foster
President

Just a reminder on a couple of things, please watch your speed limit and the stop signs as you travel through the neighborhood, little kids are out playing.
Don't forget to pick up after Rover while he is getting his excercise. Not only is it a major inconvenience to those who step in it, it can also be a serious health threat to our
community.
Dog feces can transmit diseases from your dog to people. Roundworm, hookworm and other parasitic worms may be transmitted to young children and adults who play or work in their yard/dirt when dog feces is present. Ocular larva migrans - an eye disease caused by parasitic worms found in dog droppings can cause serious eye damage to young children.
Dog feces is also a contributor to E.coli in our lakes and streams. Please pick up after Rover!
Lake residents, keep your bushes and trees trimmed, so not to obscure your neighbor's view of the lake. Let's all do our part in keeping the streets and beaches clean and keep this a great place to live and raise our families.
Thank you for visiting.
